Thoughts: You are Worth the Wait

We are worth the wait.
We are worth a covenant blessed by God.
We are worth an enduring love.
His death made us worthy.

I wish I could download this into every woman’s heart.  And hit replay when an urge to resist God’s word rises up. But I cannot, all I can simply do is: encourage, remind, and shine the light that is infused within me.

And I will continue to encourage, remind, and shine the light has been infused within me, because I know someone was standing on the sidelines of my life doing the same.

So I am here, taking a stand for you…for me…for them.  Raising my voice and letting you know that sex was & is created for marriage. Letting your know that your past doesn’t prevent you from beginning again, and your failures/mistakes will not blot you out of existence.  I know…

People may think I’m overly super spiritual, stuck in the old days, or naïve, and that’s fine.  But I will not let that stifle my voice.  I will continue to stand amongst the advocators of pre-martial sex, even if I look like an outcast, and share my belief and what grips my heart.

Whether you join me or not I will stand.
Whether you laugh at me or not I will stand.
Whether you think I’m crazy or not I will stand.

I know not everyone will agree to a lifestyle such as this, just as everyone will not pick up their cross and follow Christ. But for the ones that are, for the ones that will, and for the ones that are willing, I am here. I am here to encourage, to remind, and to radiate Christ’s light.

You are worth the wait.
You are worth a covenant blessed by God.
You are worth an enduring love.
His death made you worthy.

You are not alone…we stand together.

Thoughts: Allowing God's power to break through your flesh

At times our flesh may flare and attempt to rise over Him who is the creator of this entire world.  We get so consumed in “making it work” & finding what we think is best for our life, that we miss out on the matchless power of God. We try to work in our limited abilities and think with our limited mind; not truly understanding what we are forfeiting when we try to operate in our own strength. When this happens step back and just think, think about what your actions are saying. “Hey God, I got this. Even though you are the creator of this universe and know every intricate detail of my future, I think I know what is best. I can manage on my own.” Crazy right? God’s power is there for us to operate in. The word explains that God is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. That’s pretty amazing huh? We must allow God’s power to work in us; let it fuel us in our daily endeavors. We cannot even begin to create or imagine what God has in store for us. I believe that we would like our gift to be handcrafted by God, and not put together by our mere humans hand in some DIY project that we completed on a Saturday morning. When our flesh rises we must speak back to it. It is not in control, God’s spirit that lives within us is. It is in the restraints of God that we are most free. Allow Him to work through you and watch the beauty He creates.

One Simple Truth

I want to share with you one simple truth: God is real. I know most Christians know this, but one morning it permeated me as I was contemplating getting up to spend time with God. I told God in the midst of searching scriptures the night before that I would begin a journey in a certain book of the bible. I had been saying this for the longest, but continued to perpetuate a cycle of apathy. I was standing God up. Telling him that I would be there, and then coming up with some lame excuse when the time came. It was that morning that another layer of film was removed from my eyes. As His presence wrapped around me I became aware of what I was doing and it hurt. It hurt to know that I was hurting God, my father.

To be honest for the longest I never looked at God as being the relational type. He was simply God, someone that was the supreme ruler of the world that I should respect and obey. I guess kind of like the President.  A far away kind of guy that should be respected, who has a lot of power, but someone I would probably never develop an intimate relationship with.  This is how I viewed God…he seemed very distant.  It was my mind that was creating the distance though, the fact that I couldn’t comprehend or put my hands around the idea that God doesn’t just want me to talk at Him but to Him. Just believing in God is the tip of the iceberg. I realized that there was so much more when I allowed my mind to expand and begin to take in all that He is.

God is real, and even though He isn’t tangible at this present moment His presence is very real if you allow Him to enter.  I know it may seem a little out of kilter for some people, but let us view God as our significant other (S.O.).  We wouldn’t talk at our S.O., but we would talk to him. Allowing them to respond and take in what we are saying. We would desire to spend time with them, and do everything within our effort to stay true to our word.  We would build and grow with them, being honest when we are hurt, saddened or elated. We would push through the tough times even when we didn’t feel like it because love withstands all. This is what our savior wants, a real lasting relationship with us. Why, because he loves us with a deep churning love. Although will never be able to love Him as He loves us we can certainly try. He is worth it.

So let us take the time today to see God differently. Not as some distant figure, but a loving friend who desires to know us intently. Right now, open your mind to the fact that God is real.

Real: being or occurring in fact or actuality; having verifiable existence. True and actual; not imaginary, alleged, or ideal.

Look closely and you will see that God is real.

Its not just a day, its a new day

We had three new hires start at work last week. Their smiles, questions, and interactions with the rest of the group revealed that their hopes, dreams, and expectations were fresh. They came in full and looked forward to what the days, weeks, and months would bring; knowing nothing about what lied ahead, but knew it was full opportunities and growth. Although they might have been nervous or anxious about their first day, a day that would fuel their career, they all seemed pretty confident and excited to be where they were.

They were contagious; the intensity of their moods seemed to linger in the air, and one wouldn’t mind if it was caught. I sure didn’t.  It was refreshing to be in the midst of newness. I marveled at how they smiled, even though they knew they might be met with struggles and challenges down the road. As I transitioned back into my “day-to-day” I reflected on the couple of hours that I spent with my new co-workers, and how I should also look at each day as a new beginning.

When we open our eyes each day, we are afforded the opportunity to be a part of a day that we have never seen before, and a day that we will never see again.  We have a fresh start; no matter what did or didn’t happen yesterday, we have the opportunity to start again. We should enter into each day with hope; although we may know nothing about the outcome of the day, we know that our God has given us fresh mercy & grace to get through whatever the day may present. Just as my new co-workers came in smiling and eager to learn, we should be no different with each day. Yes there are going to be struggles & challenges, but our God has told us that we are more than conquerors. God will provide us with the tools to get through the hours, minutes, and seconds that seem daunting enough to knock us off our feet.

Let us rise above the mundane feeling that seeks to pull us into a lifeless rhythm. So when you wake tomorrow don’t look at the day as just an ordinary Thursday (or whatever day you wake up to), but a new Thursday.  A fresh Thursday that has been packed full of the essentials that you need to make it to the end.

Sink into that newness, let if refresh & revive you. God doesn’t just breathe air into our lungs so we can see Tuesday of last week; He provides something fresh & new for us to experience each day.

Spread your wings ladies & take flight....
